I wrote this poem just after my Dad died in August 2021.
I will love you always and forever
But sadly, the cost of love is loss
If you love deeply then you feel the emotions of loss, overwhelmingly
As your breath drifts away, your suffering is released
I am left with the pain and suffering of grief
I can fall into the vacuous hole, or
I can remember
I feel myself smiling as I remember you laughing,
As I remember us laughing,
As I remember our adventures and misadventures,
As I remember you.
You will always be with me, in my triumphs and in my sorrows
You are part of me
As we look out at the ocean and the endless horizon
Your hand in my hand, always and forever
I will remember
